2023 Beauty Trends

Dec 07, 2022

Over the past year we learned that when our client has specific concerns and wants targeted results, that we are dealing with a results-driven retail love language. When they have questions, we need to have the answer on demand,

• Wrinkles: retinol.

• Fine lines: alpha hydroxy acids.

• Tackle pigmentation head-on with brighteners and a physical sunblock.

A trend that featured strongly in 2022 and will most definitely be ever present in 2023 is that transformation is on demand and the expectation is that we deliver on a said timeline. How to use a product and how much of it must be done in clear and brief explanation and expectations should be out in the open. And as such, with this kind of retail love language, we learned to be efficient, not to beat around the bush and work together as a team to get skin glowing ASAP.

Eco-friendly is NON negotiable!

Most international cosmetic brands are turning towards eco-welfare and environmental sustainability. Eco-friendly can mean a lot of things, but it signifies a minimal carbon footprint and the use of recyclable materials, ingredients should be sourced from sustainable sources that are ethical and have clear supply chains. For our eco-friendly love language client, vegan products are as important to this love language as the BIG NO on animal testing and cruelty, and it is important to us to understand their expectations and work towards finding products that are suited to their needs.

Gender Neutral is here to stay

Long gone are the days of skin care products being targeted only to the ladies and the men’s products, though very limited in choice, packaged in brown boxes with blue print and typical gender symbolism! Men are now a much larger portion of the skin care market than ever before, and women are focused more on results than pretty pink packaging and heavily perfumed products. And so here we are, at a time where products are neutral in their esthetics and we learned through this love language, to be careful about making assumptions about what our client will want, based on their gender and rather focus on goals with their skin care routine. Catchword Ingredients It doesn’t feel like it was such a long time ago that only skin care specialists and dermatologists were using terms like hyaluronic acid, retinol and AHA, What They Are? How They Work? But now with all the information online our clients are just as in-the-know of all the professional language in our industry. In fact, some demand products by their ingredients that are interested in using. With this kind of love language, we make sure we explain exactly what these ingredients do and how to best use them. So, conversation and consultation are key here, just because it is a trend doesn’t always mean it is appropriate for everyone.

Fragrance-free

We all know by now that fragrances have long been part of cosmetic formulations because they add to the sensory experience of using a product. However, we and most of our clients are not as keen to have synthetic fragrances because they can cause irritation or allergic reactions but also, are largely irrelevant to the performance of the product. We mostly partner up with brands that support the love language of natural fragrance skin and body care ingredients to support our clients in their journey of free additives in their products.

Value for your hard earned money!

For most, value for money plays a huge role in buying decisions and it is the reason why we on a monthly basis reward clients who have value as a retail love language with services and products that promise to do as much. For me the greatest trend for 2023 is saying thank you. You might say a trend is temporary, but it also implies a leaning towards or inclination and for this reason, all of us at Legacy Balance Spas promise to continue to offer compatible and better products in our professional services for the year ahead.
